About The Band
Bedford Congress Hall continues to maintain a high standard of wide-ranging musical ministry as it has done for many years.
Salvation Army music-making is an expression of Musical Ministry through service, worship and praise both within and outside our church community. Therefore our many gifted musicians have an effective Musical Ministry and willingly devote their time and talents to bring blessings and encouragement to their listeners.
Formed in 1890 the Bedford Congress Hall Band has often been seen on the streets of Bedford presenting the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a vibrant and relevant way. The band endeavours to present the highest standards of musicianship but most of all to present Christ as the Risen Saviour through its music.
The members of the Bedford Congress Hall Band are all volunteers and freely give of their time and talents which are dedicated to the Glory of God. The Band participate in the Sunday worship services at The Salvation Army as well providing a musical ministry to hospitals, nursing homes and in open-air meetings...notably on the river embankment during the summer months.
Each band member is a committed Christian volunteer and wears a Salvation Army uniform purchased out of his or her own pocket.
